The Central Government has approved a fund of Rs 1,782 crore for the development of a vital strategic road project in Arunachal Pradesh, leading up to the Line of Actual Control with China, announced Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Wednesday.
Gadkari highlighted the strategic importance of the 82-kilometer-long greenfield road project, spanning from Pango to Jorging in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative, comprising Package-I and II, is expected to significantly reduce travel time for security forces, thereby enhancing their operational efficiency along the border.
“The proposed project is designed to ensure smooth and secure traffic flow, establishing year-round connectivity to villages in the region. This is poised to catalyze socio-economic development in the hilly areas of the district,” stated Gadkari.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed appreciation, stating, “There is a special focus on enhancing connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.”
He further conveyed gratitude to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the allocation of Rs 1,782 crore for the construction of the 82 km greenfield road from Pango to Jorging in the Upper Siang district. Khandu emphasized that this strategic project aims to ensure seamless connectivity in border areas, fostering socio-economic growth, and reducing travel time for security forces.
