Chandigarh F&CC Greenlights 17 New Construction & Demolition Waste Collection Points

The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation granted approval on Tuesday for the establishment of 17 additional construction and demolition (C&D) waste collection points across various locations. This initiative, estimated at a cost of Rs 41 lakh, aims to enhance the city’s waste management infrastructure.

The monthly meeting, presided over by Mayor Anup Gupta, saw discussions and approvals on multiple agenda items. Elected members, along with senior administrative and engineering officers of the civic body, were present at the session.

In addition to the waste collection points, the committee extended the contract for the operation and maintenance of gaushalas (cow shelters) in Maloya and Sector 45. The extension spans from November 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, incurring an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh.

Another approved agenda involved the provision and laying of pipelines, construction of new machine holes, and road gullies in Industrial Area Phase-I. This project, aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the stormwater drainage system, received the green light and is budgeted at Rs 48 lakh.
