The construction of the DND-KMP Expressway, connecting Delhi DND Flyover to KMP Expressway, is on track for completion by August of the coming year. This development aims to enhance travel convenience for drivers commuting within Delhi-NCR, providing smoother access to cities such as Mumbai and Jaipur.
Currently, 68 percent of Package-1 (DND to Madanpur) and 70 percent of Package-2 (Madanpur to Sector-65) have been completed. The first package is projected to conclude by August 2024, while the second package is expected to be finished by June next year. Package-2 spans from Sector-65 to Madanpur village in Delhi, and the third package, from Sector-65 Malerna Mode to Mandkaula village in Palwal, has already been completed with traffic running smoothly.
Despite facing interruptions due to pollution concerns, the construction of Package-2 on the bypass road in Faridabad is progressing rapidly. While efforts were initially made to finalize the expressway in the city by March, the ban on construction work has extended the timeline to June. The completion of 16 flyovers from Sector-65 to Mithapur Expressway, the service road, and the main expressway lane is anticipated to extend beyond March.
Winter’s shorter days, coupled with challenges such as removing electricity towers, pollution hindrances, flyover construction delays, the need for a continuous fast pace, and a shortage of laborers, have contributed to the slower progress.
The Greenfield Expressway from Sector-65 to Jewar is also facing delays, partially due to disruptions caused by farmers’ protests. Nevertheless, the NHAI management envisions completing 50-60 percent of the construction by the next year, with an ultimate goal of wrapping up the project by June 2025.
Anticipated outcomes of the completed DND-KMP Expressway include toll-free travel to Delhi, improved traffic flow in Noida, integration with the Greenfield Expressway to Jewar, and enhanced connectivity between the Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Agra Highway, KGP Expressway, KMP Expressway, and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
VK Joshi, Project Director at NHAI, affirmed, “Work is going on at a fast pace to construct the DND-KMP Expressway. Similarly, the construction work of Greenfield Express is also going on continuously. It is expected that the construction work of DND-KMP Expressway will be completed by next year.”
