In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated, “Congratulations to the people of Goa on the Zuari Bridge being fully operational! This key project will improve connectivity between northern and southern Goa, thus boosting tourism and commerce in the times to come.”
Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, also shared his excitement through a video on X, highlighting the state’s progress from picturesque beaches to state-of-the-art highways, symbolizing Goa’s ascent to new heights.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a review meeting on Saturday, assessed the progress of various infrastructure projects in Goa. The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, several MLAs, and senior state government officials, outlined key milestones. It was decided that a major link road to Manohar International Airport at Mopa would be completed by April 2024. Additionally, work on the six-lane elevated corridor at Porvorim is set to commence in January, with Gadkari laying the foundation stone for the project on Friday.
The meeting also addressed the completion of the road connecting the highway to Mormugao Port in Vasco town by April next year. The National Highway Authority of India granted tentative approval for a new bridge across the Zuari River in Borim village. Gadkari emphasized the importance of addressing congestion on the Goa section of the Mumbai-Kanyakumari and Goa-Hyderabad highways by implementing a ‘Ring Road,’ and the appointment of a consultant for this purpose was reviewed.
In a positive move for the locals, it was decided in the meeting that no toll would be imposed on internal roads in Goa. These developments signify a significant step forward in Goa’s infrastructure and connectivity initiatives.
