Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is taking a stringent stance to protect home buyers and ensure transparency in the construction sector. In adherence to new state government guidelines, all developers of legal buildings in Kalyan-Dombivli are now mandated to prominently display project-related details on boards outside their construction sites.
The information required on these boards includes the building permission number, architect’s name, details of the structural engineer, land particulars, and other pertinent project data. The Municipal Corporation emphasizes that developers must comply with this directive within three days. Failure to do so will result in actions being taken against the non-compliant developers.
This initiative stems from the need to curb instances of illegal constructions in areas like Dombivli, Titwala, and 27 villages within KDMC limits. Despite repeated actions taken by KDMC against such unauthorized constructions, many home buyers seeking affordable housing options have fallen victim to unscrupulous developers. In some egregious cases, developers have even gone to the extent of forging Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maha RERA) certificates and other permission-related documents to sell flats in illegal buildings.
Disha Sawant, the additional director of the town planning department at KDMC, affirmed, “In accordance with the state government’s directive, developers are obligated to display project details on boards outside the construction site. This step aims to empower home buyers, allowing them to verify the legality of a project by cross-referencing the details on the board with the information available on KDMC’s Town Planning department permission page.”
