PM to launch projects in Visakhapatnam on March 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Visakhapatnam on March 1 to launch a slew of central projects, including the inauguration of HPCL refinery expansion works taken up at a cost of 26,000 crore.

The PM is likely to address a public meeting at Andhra University grounds.

Under the Visakha refinery modernisation project, the capacity of the refinery was expanded from the earlier 8.3 to 15 million metric tonne per annum.District collector A Mallikarjuna and other officials inspected the Andhra University grounds on Friday for the PM’s visit.

Vizag police commissioner A Ravishankar, GVMC commissioner CM Saikanth Varma, additional commissioner KS Vishwanathan, and HPCL officials also participated in the inspection. The collector directed officials to make tight arrangements in view of the PM’s visit. He instructed them to put up strong barricades, take preventive measures to avoid power problems, and provide drinking water and sanitation facilities.

On Monday, the PM will lay foundation stones for redevelopment of 13 stations under Amrit Bharat scheme and dedication of 10 RUBs in Guntur division through virtual mode. In the first phase, Modi laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 508 railway stations under Amrit Bharat scheme across the country. In the second phase, he will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 554 railway stations, including 13 in AP.
