State government plans greenfield city in Kichha

The state government intends to develop five to seven new cities, starting with greenfield city project on a 2000-acre site in Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar. This move aims to drive economic growth and create employment opportunities.

Former BJP MLA from Kichha, Rajesh Shukla, said, “Greenfield city will be strategically located on State Highway-74, just 15km from Rudrapur and connected to the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor. A knowledge park spanning 200 to 250 acres is also proposed nearby. The state government estimates a private investment of about Rs 7,000 crore for the project. This development is expected to generate employment for 50,000 individuals and provide housing for approximately two lakh residents”.

Shukla said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had requested funds from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their recent meeting to support the development of greenfield city in Kichha.

“The Union health ministry has approved a budget of Rs 700 crore for the construction of an AIIMS satellite centre on a 100-acre plot in Kichha. This, along with the development of Green Field City costing Rs 1,000 crore, positions Kichha as a significant city in the state and the country. The comprehensive plan, including greenfield city, the AIIMS satellite centre, and the Knowledge Park, promises economic prosperity and improved living standards for Kichha,” Shukla added.
