Approximately 100 days after initiating its housing scheme, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has successfully sold close to 2,300 flats. The housing scheme, which was launched on June 30, offered 5,600 flats in one, two, and three BHK configurations in various areas, including Jasola, Rohini, Dwarka, Lok Nayak Puram, Narela, and Siraspur.
The 2BHK units in Dwarka, priced between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.2 crore, were quickly sold out. DDA officials noted that the sale of flats gained momentum after implementing measures such as allowing the combination of two flats (jodi flats) and permitting potential buyers to visit the flats before making a purchase.
The DDA holds an inventory of approximately 40,000 flats across different areas of the city, including Narela, Jasola, Rohini, Dwarka, and Siraspur. Of the nearly 2,300 flats sold, 800 were in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in Narela, indicating increased interest in EWS flats.
To boost sales, the DDA has adopted various measures, including advertising on social media platforms and hiring a real estate consultant for sales optimization. In August, the DDA removed the restriction on homeowners purchasing a second DDA property in Delhi. Buyers can now acquire a DDA house or flat, even if they already own a property in the city.
Previously, flat allotment was determined by a lottery system, with buyers unable to visit the property before making a decision. The DDA’s new policies, such as allowing the consolidation of adjacent flats on one floor, have encouraged buyers. Additionally, the development of a police station, hospital, introduction of new DTC routes, and the new metro corridor in Narela have made the region more appealing to buyers.
