Nitin Gadkari to Inaugurate EXCON 2023: A Milestone for India’s Construction Industry

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is set to inaugurate ‘EXCON 2023,’ South Asia’s largest construction equipment trade fair, scheduled to take place from December 12 to 16 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). Over 1,000 exhibitors from around 15 countries will participate in this event.

Dimitrov Krishnan, Co-Chairman of CII EXCON 2023, stated during a media briefing that this 12th edition of EXCON is considered the Construction Equipment Festival of India and will play a crucial role in driving India’s ongoing progress. He emphasized the festival’s significance in showcasing India’s robust infrastructure development, reinforcing its position as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing.

The Construction Equipment (CE) industry exhibited a remarkable resurgence in fiscal 2022-23, achieving a notable 26% growth. This outstanding performance led to total sales surpassing the one lakh milestone, solidifying India as the world’s third-largest CE market.

Vijaykrishnan Venkatesan, CII Karnataka Chairman, highlighted Karnataka’s emergence as a vibrant manufacturing hub, with EXCON demonstrating the state’s manufacturing potential. The event will witness substantial participation from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and component industries.

A notable feature at EXCON 2023 will be the Sustainable Power Solutions pavilion, showcasing cutting-edge technologies such as electric, hybrid, and alternate fuel-powered machinery. The pavilion aims to spotlight state-of-the-art equipment designed to reduce emissions and enhance energy efficiency.

JCB is set to launch hydrogen engines at EXCON 2023, including the JCB 3DX hydrogen machine and the JCB hydrogen combustion engine. Deepak Shetty, CEO and MD of JCB India, emphasized that these hydrogen engines represent a significant milestone in decarbonizing the construction sector in India and globally, showcasing practical and affordable technology to address climate goals.
