Odisha Government Inks MoUs Worth Over Rs 23,300 Crore with 11 Companies

On Friday, the Odisha government signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 11 companies, totaling Rs 23,389 crore, for various projects in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sundergarh. These initiatives are expected to generate employment opportunities for 15,168 individuals, according to officials.

The MoUs were formalized during the Enterprise Odisha Summit held in Jharsuguda, attended by senior state government officials and representatives from diverse companies. Key agreements include a pact with Epsilon Carbon Private Ltd, committing an investment of Rs 10,000 crore over the next 10 years. Additionally, Ind Barath Energy Utkal Ltd is set to establish an 800-MW ultra supercritical coal-based thermal power plant in Jharsuguda, with an investment of Rs 6,012.46 crore.

Epsilon Carbon will establish a unit within the integrated carbon complex (ICC) in Jharsuguda. Highlighting Jharsuguda’s advantages, Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, mentioned the region’s industrial ecosystem, skilled labor availability, robust infrastructure, and industry-friendly policies, positioning it as an ideal location for upcoming mega projects.
