A recent survey by India’s first Operatarium Co-Working Space Company, DK Vertex, reveals some surprising facts highlighting the growing need of self-care perks and amenities for talent acquisition and retention. The new league of the modern workforce is prioritising self-care like never before, making workplace wellness a central factor in where top talent chooses to work and stay. Released today on International Self-Care Day, the survey findings reveal that coworking businesses offering wellness, mental health, and fitness perks experience talent retention rates approximately 30% higher than those without such benefits. The survey surprisingly highlights the growing trend of workplace napping, with an increasing number of employees demanding a recharge during the day. Over 28% of respondents identified wellness rooms or sleeping pods as the most influential factor, followed by fitness facilities or group classes at 25%.
The survey conducted among over 150 companies across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai highlights a dramatic shift: workplace well-being is no longer a fringe benefit, but a core part of what makes a company competitive.

32% of professionals said self-care features make them much more likely to recommend their company or workspace, while 26% said they would be somewhat more likely to do so. About 25% felt these amenities made no difference, and just 7% said such perks would make them less likely to advocate for their employer.

High-quality cafes offering a variety of healthy food and snacking options were the leading priority for 23%, and onsite mental health support topped the list for 24%. Importantly, the survey points to a potential risk for companies that overlook employee well-being. 27% said they would consider leaving if these perks were removed, and 36% would stay but feel less satisfied. Only 13% said the absence of perks would not impact their decision.
Compared to previous workplaces without self-care features, 30% reported a much higher likelihood of staying with their current employer, and 39% said their likelihood was somewhat higher. 22% saw no change, while 9% reported a lower intention to stay. Beyond wellness, respondents cited other factors as increasingly vital for workplace satisfaction: flexible work hours, opportunities for professional development, and a strong sense of community within the workspace. The survey suggests that companies investing in holistic support, not just physical perks but also career growth and culture, stand to gain a decisive edge in today’s job market.
