A former general manager at Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has reported being defrauded of Rs 20 lakh in a real estate scam in Gurgaon.
As per police reports, Meena Ahuja, the complainant, purchased land from Baldev Raj in 2014 for Rs 20.85 lakh, with the documentation completed at Sohna court. However, she later discovered that Raj, who was suffering from cancer, had caused a delay in the registration process.
In 2019, after Raj’s demise, Ahuja learned that the land had been sold to another party, despite Raj’s wife being aware of the initial deal. Offering a refund or an equivalent plot in Alipur, Raj’s wife and Ahuja agreed on a 150 sq yard plot in 2020, with all documentation processed at Sohna court.
In April 2023, Raj’s wife approached Ahuja, suggesting a different plot in Rithoj village. This led Ahuja to file a complaint. Despite making complaints on June 1 and in October, and making numerous visits to the police station, no FIR was registered until Friday.
The FIR has now been lodged under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Bhondsi police station.
