Kapil Dev buys 16-acre land in Mograj village

Former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev has purchased a 16-acre land in Mograj village of Karjat taluka.

Kapil Dev had registered the property on Friday. This is the second land purchased by the 1983 Prudential World Cup Cricket winning team captain.

The land spread on both sides of the road is located around 500 metres away from Kothimbe village and much ahead of the tourist hotspot Solanpada dam. The land mass is purchased from a Hedvali village farmer Mohan Gaikar at a cost of Rs 8 crore as per the agreement value between them.

However, since the printed ready reckoner rate of the government for this area is a little higher (Rs 9.03 crore) than what Kapil Dev paid (Rs 8 crore); the cricketer had to pay higher stamp duty on Rs 1.03 crore, calculated on the basis of the government ready reckoner price of Rs 9.03 crore, and not what he actually paid as the base price for the land. Accordingly, the registration was done.

It may be noted that Kapil Dev had purchased a 25-acre land parcel in Kothimbe village in 2022. Adequate secrecy was maintained about his arrival till the registration of the land deal. One of the sub-registrars from Panvel, Mangesh Chaudhary, was deputed to Neral office to do the land registration works.
