In a significant move, the National Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has granted approval to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Sector-142 to Botanical Garden Metro section during its 38th board meeting. NMRC Managing Director Dr. Lokesh M announced that the approval of the DPR signifies a pivotal milestone, with the next step involving its submission for final authorization to the Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre, as reported by IE.
The envisioned project is designed to provide direct connectivity to Delhi Airport’s Terminal-1 through the Magenta line of the Delhi Metro. Dr. Lokesh M highlighted that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,254.35 crore, covering an approximate length of 11.56 kilometers and including a total of eight stations.
The list of stations comprises Botanical Garden, Noida Sector-44, Noida Office, Noida Sector-97, Noida Sector-105, Noida Sector-108, Noida Sector-93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. Dr. Lokesh M stated, “The new metro corridor aims to facilitate seamless travel between Delhi and Noida-Greater Noida, expecting a daily ridership of around 80,000 passengers.”
He further emphasized the direct benefits for residents in various sectors of Noida, specifically mentioning Sector-44, 45, 97, 99, 100, 104, 105, 108, and 93. According to the IE report, the MD also highlighted that the metro line would integrate with Indian Railways stations such as New Delhi and Anand Vihar, enhancing connectivity with inter-city and intra-city bus stations.
The approval of the DPR is a crucial step toward strengthening public transportation infrastructure, promising improved connectivity and convenience for commuters along the Delhi-Noida-Greater Noida corridor.
