Piyush Goyal Unveils Key Documents to Propel India’s Infrastructure Development

In a significant development on Monday at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, Union Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled three pivotal documents aimed at boosting India’s infrastructure and economic growth. The unveiled documents include “Compendium of PM GatiShakti: Volume II,” “Compendium of Roles and Responsibilities on PM GatiShakti National Master Plan,” and “Handbook for District Collectors: PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for Area Development Approach.”

Minister Goyal commended stakeholders for their substantial achievements in implementing the PM GatiShakti initiative over the past two years. He highlighted the advantages of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP), emphasizing its data-driven mechanisms to address challenges, streamline project planning and implementation, and expedite NOC approvals and land acquisitions.

Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Som Parkash, emphasized the integration of infrastructure, economic, and social Ministries/Departments. He noted that the released documents would harmonize India’s infrastructure planning and enhance logistics efficiency.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), lauded improvements in district-level area planning, encompassing both hard and soft infrastructure. He stated that the documents would encourage integrated planning, eliminate ad-hoc issues, and promote synergy among stakeholders at various levels.

Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics), DPIIT, highlighted the concerted efforts made by the Logistics Division, including initiatives such as data ownership, quality management, and the successful release of the “Logistics Cost in India: Assessment and Long-term Framework” report.

The “Compendium of PM GatiShakti: Volume II” showcases 11 successful use cases of PM GatiShakti NMP adoption, illustrating benefits like expedited decision-making and integrated planning. The “Handbook for District Collectors” offers guidance for district-level officers to achieve comprehensive area-based socio-economic development aligned with PM GatiShakti principles. The “Compendium of Roles and Responsibilities” provides an overview of stakeholder responsibilities, promoting clarity and efficient data management practices.

These documents aim to enhance the ease of doing business, improve quality of life, and facilitate the seamless adoption of PM GatiShakti at the district level, significantly contributing to India’s infrastructural development and economic growth.
