Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) India unveiled its revolutionary zero-emission construction and mining machinery at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in New Delhi.
A standout at the expo was the DD40 Electric mini asphalt compactor, a groundbreaking achievement as it marks Bharat’s inaugural locally designed and produced electric road machinery. Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, this compact yet potent machine pledges a greener and quieter urban road construction experience. The showcase also featured the L120 Electric Wheel Loader, an electric adaptation of Volvo‘s renowned 6-tonne wheel loader, setting new standards for sustainable material handling across various industries.
Volvo CE’s commitment to sustainability transcends product innovation. In 2023, the company introduced a range of zero-emission machines, including the EC500 Electric, India’s first grid-connected electric excavator in the 50-ton class, and the PT220 Electric Asphalt Compactor, tailored for smooth and emission-free road construction. Volvo CE actively contributes to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aligning with stringent emission regulations and fostering a cleaner, quieter future for India’s construction industry.
Dimitrov Krishnan, MD of Volvo CE India, emphasized the significance of accelerating technological shifts towards electrification in one of the world’s fastest-growing construction equipment markets. He highlighted the company’s commitment to shaping a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable future for the construction industry in India, expressing optimism about potential initiatives, such as inclusion in the FAME scheme, a reduction in GST to 5% on electric machines, and the creation of EV-friendly infrastructure tenders.
In addition to electric innovations, Volvo CE adopts a comprehensive approach by introducing modern service solutions. These include Equipment as a Service, a value-added scalable service bundling cutting-edge equipment with efficiency measures and productivity services. The company’s focus on supporting customer success aligns with its vision for a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable construction industry in India.
