The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is set to lay the foundation stone for the Kanpur Ring Road project, spanning 93.2 kilometers, under the auspices of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for January 8, marking a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
Upon receiving notification from the ministry, NHAI officials have swiftly undertaken preparations for the event. According to an email communication from the ministry, Nitin Gadkari’s itinerary includes participation in programs organized across Rae Bareli, Kanpur, and Unnao districts.
The minister’s schedule on January 8 will commence with the inauguration of the Lalganj-Unnao four-lane highway in Rae Bareli. Subsequently, Nitin Gadkari will proceed to Kanpur, where he will lay the foundation stone for the NHAI’s ambitious Kanpur Ring Road Project. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Kanpur-Aligarh GT Road four-lane road and the Chakeri-Prayagraj six-lane road.
Following the events in Kanpur, the minister will proceed to Unnao to lay the foundation stone for the Unnao portion of the Ring Road and inaugurate the Unnao-Lalganj four-lane road. Both project directors of the NHAI have been officially notified of these developments via email.
NHAI Project Director Prashant Dubey highlighted the rapid progress of work on the GT Road. Notably, the 3km stretch from Kalyanpur IIT Gate to Mandhana is anticipated to be completed by January 4. Additionally, the Railway overbridge of the Bithoor railway line is nearing completion and is expected to be open for traffic by January 4.
Sources reveal that the Railways will temporarily block this segment on January 2, facilitating the seamless execution of the ongoing infrastructure projects in the region. The Kanpur Ring Road project, once completed, is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and contribute to the overall development of the transportation network in the area.
