The latest single drum compact roller by Amman the ARS 110.2 T1 equipped with a Cummins 4BT3.9 diesel powered engine not only raises the benchmark in terms easy maintenance and low ownership costs.
Developed and built based on the ECO-drop philosophy that Ammann boasts the single drum roller compactor is as environmentally friendly as a roller compactor can be and profitable to own based on the lower maintenance, fuel and fluid requirements. According to Ammann’s Equipment Testing and Validation Manager Radek Remeš, the ARS 110.2 T1 consumes 17 % less engine oil and 5 % less hydraulic fluid when compared to predecessors.
In essence the lower acquisition cost and ownership costs of the machine equate to savings that will eventually be reflected by the owner’s bottom line.
There are numerous new time saving features that have been added to the new machine which eliminates the need for engine after-treatment. For example the fuel capacity of the machine which is 310L coupled with the lower consumption of fuel ensures that the machine can be operated for a minimum of three working without having to refuel. This has a direct and positive impact on cost factors linked to fuel logistics at project sites.
Apart from that, the vibratory system in the new machine is located in an oil bath which is coupled with an automatic lubrication mechanism which does not only prevent overheating, but also extends the machine’s lifespan considerably. From a maintenance perspective, the fact that Ammann has objectively made the entire engine compartment more accessible than ever enables mechanics and technicians to make quick fixes to the machine on-site without having to relocate the machine to a garage.
The design of the engine compartment also protects all the primary engine components vigorously whilst the machine is in operation.
The standard rollout of the ARS 110.2 is categorized under the 11-12-tonne weight category; however the manufacturer designed the machine to accommodate an additional weight increase kit that adds another ton of weight which enables the machine to achieve higher static loads. The level of manoeuvrability and compaction power that the Ammann’s latest roller compactor hire machinery offers renders the machine ideal for both mid-sized and large-scale projects.
Much of the compaction power is attributed to the 102-hp Cummins engine that is able to perform on high-sulphur fuels whereas the design of the high-pressured hydraulic configuration offers better compaction effectiveness. The drums are fitted with a double stage vibratory system which is capable of generating eccentric forces of up to 275kN easily at 32Hz frequencies and about 160kN at the higher 35Hz frequency.
Both high and low amplitudes of 1.9mm and 0.85mm ensure that consistent compaction is exerted throughout the layer’s total target depth. The drums of the ARS 110.2 own have a working width of 213cm and are 25mm thick. Last, but not least the new machine also comes with an optional pad-foot shell kit which offers tamping during the compaction process for better results when contending with soils that are cohesive.
