A groundbreaking ceremony took place on December 15, where Uttar Pradesh Government Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra and Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh initiated the construction of an up-and-down interchange connecting the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) to the Yamuna Expressway. The interchange, estimated to cost Rs 123 crore, is anticipated to be completed in approximately 18 months.
Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh highlighted the significance of this interchange, considering its role as a crucial link for the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. He emphasized that the interchange would not only benefit the residents of Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur but also facilitate direct travel for individuals from Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, and Hathras to Meerut and Ghaziabad, bypassing Noida and Greater Noida.
The improved connectivity resulting from the interchange is expected to streamline transportation to Noida Airport, providing relief from traffic congestion and saving both time and money for commuters. Durga Shankar Mishra affirmed that the construction of this interchange would significantly enhance the accessibility of Noida Airport.
The demand for such an interchange had been a longstanding one, and although the project had faced delays due to farmer demands, the concerns have now been addressed, with farmers receiving compensation, allowing the construction work to commence.
