In a significant development, Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, has given the green light for an allocation of Rs 1,170.16 crore dedicated to 29 road projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh. These projects encompass a state highway, major roads, and other district roads. Additionally, Gadkari announced the allocation of Rs 181.71 crore for eight bridges under the CRIF Scheme for the fiscal year 2023-24.
During the announcement on Friday, Gadkari emphasized that Ladakh, being the largest Union Territory in terms of area and the second least populous in India, will experience enhanced connectivity to its remote villages through these approved initiatives. This increased financial allocation is anticipated to catalyze economic activities, particularly in sectors such as agriculture and tourism, thereby contributing significantly to the overall infrastructural development of Ladakh.
